Join us as Robert Lee Fleming, Cherokee citizen and former Cherokee Nation Tribal Registrar (1987–1995), presents on the Eastern Cherokee Applications (1906–1909) — a remarkable set of nearly 46,000 applications filed in response to a U.S. court settlement for Eastern Cherokees who missed earlier treaty payments tied to the Trail of Tears. Each application contains up to four generations of genealogical detail, making this collection an invaluable resource for Cherokee family research. Lee will walk us through the purpose, process, contents, scope, and historical significance of these records.
